I was not looking for dog but he was clearly looking for me. Yes, you read that correctly, sometimes they chose us! I was early for a business meeting near the animal shelter and had a little time to spare. I walked in and went directly into the back of the building and wandered up and down the aisles. Lot's of adorable barky, wiggly pups vying for my attention and then I stopped. This funny looking little guy with the shortest little legs and the biggest ears I've ever seen quietly crawled up on the kennel and looked at me with the most soulful eyes. He put his paws up and I touched him and I said "are you my puppy?" I took him out and he hugged my neck and we fell in love. He is my best friend and I have no idea how I ever got along without him.
Porkchop Larry and I wrote a book together called the Porkchop Diaries that tells our wonderful story. The photograph was taken on our first day home. Our story is heartfelt and it will make you laugh and cry. It has the happiest ending ever. We were so grateful to have each other that we wrote a book so that we could thank the shelter for putting us together! We have raised thousands of dollars for the shelter so far and have had book signings and been in the local paper. All of the proceeds from the sale of our book are donated to the shelter so come in get one the next time you are in the neighborhood.
