Adoption journey

From first hello to homecoming

Our process is designed around one goal: the right match, made joyfully. Most adopters walk in curious and walk out with a best friend the same day.

    Come visit us

Stop by Tuesday–Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM — no appointment needed. Our staff know every animal by name and personality, and they will help you discover who fits your lifestyle and family. Plan to spend 20–30 minutes with any pet you are considering.

  2. 2

    Find your match

Spend time with different pets and see who naturally connects with you. Ask us anything: their background, medical history, quirks, and any special care they need. There's no rush — the right match matters more than a fast one.

  3. 3

    Complete the application

Found the one? You will fill out an adoption application covering your living situation, pet experience, and lifestyle. Most applications are approved the same day, so you can often take your new friend home that afternoon.

  4. 4

    Review the adoption agreement

We will walk you through our adoption guidelines together — spay/neuter requirements, care standards, and our return policy. One promise matters most: if you ever cannot care for your pet, bring them back to us. No questions asked.

  5. 5

Pay the fee and head home

Adoption is $80 for dogs and cats, and it includes vaccinations, deworming, rabies shot, microchip, and spay/neuter. First responders and military adopt free through Operation Save a Life. Then the best part begins.

Set up for success

Read our guide to the first days and weeks — including the 3-3-3 rule for helping your new pet decompress, learn your routines, and finally feel at home.

Plan the budget

Everything is on our fees page — adoption, microchips, and city tags. Seniors get $10 off, and first responders adopt free.

Someone at the shelter is waiting to meet you

Every adoption opens a kennel for the next animal who needs us. Come by Tuesday through Saturday — no appointment needed.
